SKN | Florida Realtors Launches Hometown Program to Highlight Community Service

Florida Realtors has launched the I Love My Hometown series to recognize members who contribute to their communities beyond their real estate work. The statewide program will feature Realtors involved in volunteering, mentoring, nonprofit support, community projects, and assistance for neighbors in need. Members can submit stories from their 2026 community activities, accompanied by photos or videos, with submissions due October 30.

Florida Realtors is creating a new statewide social media series designed to highlight members whose community involvement extends beyond buying and selling property. The I Love My Hometown program will recognize Realtors who volunteer, support nonprofit organizations, mentor young people, organize local initiatives, or assist residents facing difficulties.

The initiative shifts the focus from real estate transactions to the broader role some professionals play within the communities where they work and live.

The Public Assumption

Real estate professionals are typically associated with transactions, property marketing, negotiations, and client services. Community involvement is often treated as separate from those professional activities.

Florida Realtors’ new program is based on a different view: because Realtors frequently work within specific neighborhoods and local markets, some also become involved in community organizations and initiatives outside their professional responsibilities.

The association says the series is intended to bring greater visibility to those activities by sharing individual members’ stories through its social media channels.

The Economic Breakdown

The program does not focus on a financial award or transaction-related performance. Instead, members are invited to submit stories describing community service carried out during 2026.

Examples include mentoring young people, supporting local nonprofits, organizing community projects, and responding to local needs. Each submission must include accompanying photos or videos.

The Florida Realtors Communications Team will review the submissions and select members for potential inclusion in the association’s social media content during the fall.

The deadline creates a defined window for members who want their community activities considered. Submissions are due October 30.

The Hidden Picture

The initiative also illustrates how professional associations increasingly use member-generated stories as part of their communications strategy. Rather than presenting community involvement through broad institutional messaging, the series will rely on individual experiences and documented activities.

That approach places the emphasis on what members actually do within their communities. The requirement for photos or videos also means submissions will need supporting visual material rather than relying solely on written descriptions.

However, being featured remains subject to the association’s selection process. Submitting a story does not establish that every entry will appear on Florida Realtors’ social media channels.

Closing

As Florida Realtors expands the I Love My Hometown series, the more relevant question is whether highlighting individual community service will give consumers a clearer picture of the local role Realtors play beyond the transactions that define their profession.
